The Portfolio page is your main dashboard for checking portfolio performance, reviewing holdings, and spotting data issues that need attention.
Open The Portfolio Page
Use the left-hand menu to open Portfolio.
The left-hand menu also gives you access to other areas of Navexa, including Transactions, Performance, Navexa AI, Email Inbox, Custom Groups, Allocation Strategy, and Settings.
If your account is set up for Australian tax reporting, you may also see Tax Reporting in the left-hand menu. Tax Reporting is only shown for AUD base currency accounts with Navexa subscriptions paid in AUD.
Switch Portfolios
Use the portfolio dropdown at the top left to choose which portfolio you want to view.
From this dropdown, you can:
See which portfolio is currently selected.
Switch between portfolios you own.
Open shared portfolios.
Open portfolio views, if you have created them.
Open Manage Portfolios.
Changing the selected portfolio updates the performance figures, chart, alerts, and holdings list on the page.
Use Search And Navigation
The search bar at the top of the page helps you quickly search or jump to key areas in Navexa.
You can use it to move to pages such as Portfolio, Add Holdings, Manage Portfolios, Navexa AI, Tax Reports, and Settings.
Use Page Controls
Use the controls above the chart to choose which holdings, positions, and date range you want to analyse.
These controls include:
Filter holdings, which lets you search for a specific holding.
All time, which lets you choose the date range.
Filter, which lets you apply more detailed filters.
All Positions, which lets you choose which position types are included.
These controls affect the figures and chart shown on the Portfolio page. If your numbers look different from what you expected, check these controls first.
For more detail on filters, see Using the Filter System.
Choose A Date Range
Use the date range selector above the chart to choose the period you want to analyse.
For example, you can select All time, a financial year, a recent period, or a custom range.
Changing the date range can:
Recalculate the performance figures on the page.
Update the chart to match the selected period.
Change how holdings appear based on the end of the selected range.
If a holding appears open or closed unexpectedly, or the performance figures look different from what you expected, check the selected date range first. For a deeper explanation, see How the Date Range Selector Works.
Review Performance Cards
Across the top of the Portfolio page, Navexa shows five performance cards for the selected portfolio and date range.
Portfolio Value shows the value of the portfolio and the overall return percentage.
Capital Gain shows gain or loss from price movement. It can include realised and unrealised gains.
Income Return shows income from dividends and distributions.
Currency Gain shows the impact of foreign exchange movement for international holdings.
Total Return combines capital gain, income return, and currency gain.
Click a performance card to change the metric shown in the chart below.
For a deeper explanation of how Navexa calculates and displays portfolio performance, see How Does Navexa Calculate & Display Your Portfolio Performance?
Use The Portfolio Chart
The chart shows how your selected performance metric has moved over time.
Use the chart controls to:
Switch between Amount and Percent.
Switch between Line and Bar chart views.
Hover over the chart to see values for specific dates.
This helps you compare long-term growth, short-term movement, and changes across different return types.
Add Holdings
Use Add Holdings in the top right to open the Add Holdings page.
From there, you can choose how you want to add or import investment data into the selected portfolio.
For more detail on adding investments to Navexa, see Adding Your First Investments.
Fix Holdings Need Attention
If Navexa finds holdings that do not reconcile cleanly, you may see a Holdings Need Attention box above your holdings list.
This alert usually appears when a holding has an issue such as:
A negative quantity.
A missing earlier buy.
A sell that does not have enough units behind it.
A duplicate or incorrect transaction.
Click Fix beside the affected holding to review the issue and correct the underlying trades.
For more detail, see Fix ‘Holdings Need Attention’ Alerts.
Adjust The Holdings Table
Use the controls above the holdings table to change how your holdings list is displayed.
Depending on your setup, you can:
Use the grouping dropdown to group holdings by options such as holding type, broker, account, sector, industry, risk profile, or custom group.
Switch between AUD and Local currency views where available.
Use Hide Closed to hide closed positions from the table.
Use Columns to choose which fields appear in the table.
Use Export to download the current holdings list.
The Columns button lets you customise which values appear in the holdings table. This can include fields such as price, average buy price, quantity, value, capital gain, income return, currency gain, total return, and weighting.
These controls change how the holdings table is shown. They do not delete trades or change your underlying portfolio data.
For a full explanation of available columns, see Columns: customise what you see in the Holdings table.
Review Your Holdings List
The holdings list shows the investments in your selected portfolio.
Each row can represent an individual holding or a grouped row, depending on the grouping option you’ve selected.
The table shows the columns you have selected in Columns. This may include details such as symbol, price, quantity, value, capital gain, income return, currency gain, total return, and weighting.
Use the holdings list to see which investments are contributing most to your portfolio value, gains, losses, and income.
Check Income Alerts
On the far right of a holding row, you may see a notification button with a number inside it.
This usually means the holding has income entries that need review, such as dividends or distributions.
Click the notification button to review and confirm those income entries. Once confirmed, they’ll be included in your income and performance figures.
Remember, this is general information, not personal financial advice.
