Import an Interactive Brokers (IBKR) Activity Flex Query CSV into Navexa to add your historical trades. The automatic Web Service connection only syncs ongoing supported activity.
When To Use A CSV
You may need an IBKR CSV when:
You don’t want to use the automatic connection.
Your automatic connection doesn’t include your complete trade history.
Older trades are missing after the first automatic sync.
You need to import a specific historical date range.
Uploading a CSV doesn’t replace your automatic connection. The automatic Web Service can continue syncing new supported activity each day.
Create A Flex Query
To create the correct IBKR trade export:
Sign in to the IBKR Client Portal.
Open Performance & Reports.
Select Flex Queries.
Select the + icon beside Activity Flex Query.
Enter a name for the query.
Under Sections, select Trades.
In the window that appears, select Executions.
Choose Select All.
Select Save.
Under General Configuration, set Date Format to
mm/dd/yyyy.Select Create.
Select OK once the Activity Flex Query has been created.
Download Your CSV
Run the Activity Flex Query to download your trades:
Find the query you created and select Run.
Under Period, select Custom Date Range.
Choose a date range covering the trades you need.
Set the output format to CSV.
Select Run.
Download the completed CSV file.
IBKR may limit an export to one year of data. If necessary, run separate exports for each year using non-overlapping date ranges.
Upload The CSV
To upload the IBKR file into Navexa:
Sign in to Navexa and select the correct portfolio.
Open Portfolio from the left-hand menu.
Select + Add Holdings.
Search for or select Interactive Brokers.
Select CSV File Upload.
Select or drag your IBKR CSV into the upload area.
Select Upload File.
Follow the on-screen steps to complete the import.
If Navexa asks you to review the trades, check:
Trade dates.
Buy and sell types.
Symbols.
Quantities.
Prices.
Brokerage and other fees.
Any transactions flagged as possible duplicates.
Complete the import once the details are correct.
Supported Transactions
The IBKR importer supports standard buy and sell trades for supported shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
It doesn’t import:
Short and cover trades.
Options.
Contracts for difference (CFDs).
Futures.
Other derivatives.
Unsupported investments can be added manually as Custom Investments where suitable.
Common Issues
Why Is Navexa Asking Me To Map Columns?
Navexa asks you to map columns when you’ve opened the generic spreadsheet importer instead of the IBKR-specific importer.
Cancel the import and start again using:
Portfolio → + Add Holdings → Interactive Brokers → CSV File Upload
Why Is Part Of My History Missing?
Your selected date range may not cover your entire trading history. IBKR may also limit each export to one year.
Create additional CSV files using non-overlapping date ranges, then upload each file separately.
Will The CSV Duplicate Synced Trades?
Navexa can recognise or flag trades that have already been imported. Review any possible duplicates shown during the import before confirming the file.
