Troubleshoot Interactive Brokers (IBKR) Connections

Troubleshoot an IBKR Web Service connection in Navexa, understand automatic historical backfill, and resolve missing trade or sync issues.

Use this guide to check an Interactive Brokers (IBKR) connection, understand the first sync and historical backfill, and resolve missing-trade issues.

Check Your Connection

Check your IBKR connection in SettingsConnected AccountsInteractive Brokers.

Review the linked account, its mapped Navexa portfolio, sync status and sync history before changing the connection.

First Sync And Backfill

IBKR makes new activity available daily. Allow up to 24 hours after linking for IBKR to make the data available and for Navexa to process it.

New IBKR Web Service connections receive an automatic historical backfill from IBKR. IBKR provides eligible trades from 1 January 2024, or from your account inception if later.

Note: You do not need to email IBKR to request a historical file for a new Web Service connection.

When Older Trades Are Missing

The automated backfill does not include eligible trades from before 1 January 2024. If you need to add older trades, export them from IBKR and upload them as a CSV.

Follow Import Interactive Brokers (IBKR) Trades Using CSV for the correct export and upload process.

Re-Link A Web Service Connection

If your IBKR Web Service connection fails, re-link it using the Token and Query ID from IBKR.

  1. Open SettingsConnected AccountsInteractive Brokers.

  2. Delete the affected account link. Leave the option to delete previously imported trades unticked.

  3. Open Portfolio and select + Add Holdings.

  4. Select Interactive Brokers, then Direct Account Link.

  5. Enter the IBKR Token and Query ID, map the account to the correct portfolio, set Sync From to Beginning, then select Link Account.

For detailed setup steps, see Connect Interactive Brokers (IBKR) to Navexa.

Existing FTP Connections

Existing IBKR FTP connections can continue syncing. This automatic backfill change applies to new Web Service connections and does not change an existing FTP connection.

IBKR no longer accepts requests to create new FTP connections. Do not email IBKR to request a new FTP feed or historical file.

If an existing FTP connection shows an authentication error, contact Navexa support with the linked account name, portfolio, expected trade date range and a screenshot of the sync status or history.

Common Issues

Use these checks to distinguish a delayed initial sync from a connection or account-mapping issue.

Why Is There No Sync History?

A new connection may not show history until IBKR has made the first file available. Confirm the link is enabled, the correct IBKR account is mapped to the intended Navexa portfolio, then allow up to 24 hours.

Why Did No Trades Import?

For recent trades, check that the trade occurred in the linked IBKR account and allow time for the next daily sync. For older trades, check whether they fall before the automated backfill period and upload a CSV if needed.

Why Did Sync Succeed But Trades Are Missing?

Check the expected trade date range, linked IBKR account and Navexa portfolio. If all are correct, contact Navexa support with a screenshot of the sync status or history and the exact trades you expected to see.
