Can I change the base currency of my portfolio?

Base currency is locked when a portfolio is created and can’t be changed later. To use a different base currency, create a new portfolio in the correct currency (and delete the old one if needed).

No. The base currency of a portfolio can’t be changed after it's created.

This is intentional, so your historical performance and reporting stay consistent.

What to do instead

If you need a different base currency, you can create a new portfolio with the correct currency.

1) Create a new portfolio with the correct currency

  1. Go to the top left Portfolio Selector, then Manage Portfolios.

  2. Click Add Portfolio.

  3. During setup, select the correct tax residency. This determines the portfolio’s base currency.

  4. Save the portfolio.

Examples

  • Australia → AUD

  • Singapore → SGD

  • United States → USD

2) Delete the old portfolio (if you need to reuse your portfolio limit)

If your plan only allows a certain number of portfolios, you may need to delete the existing portfolio before creating a new one.

Deleting a portfolio is permanent and cannot be undone.

Tip: If you only want to view holdings in their local currency

If your goal is just to view each holding in its original currency (not change the portfolio base currency), use the Local Currency toggle.

FAQ

Does renaming a portfolio change the base currency?

No. Renaming only changes the label. It does not change the base currency.

I’m an Australian tax resident. Can I use USD as the base currency for tax?

ATO tax reporting is only available for portfolios using AUD as the base currency. If you need ATO reporting, create an AUD portfolio.
