Portfolio Diversification Report

Learn how to use Navexa’s Diversification report to review portfolio allocation, apply filters, group categories, switch graph types, and export the data to Excel.

Use the Diversification report to see how your selected portfolio is allocated across holdings, sectors, industries, brokers, currencies, custom groups, and other categories.

What Diversification Shows

The Diversification report shows how your portfolio is spread across different categories.

The report includes:

  • A search bar to find specific holdings.

  • An As At date so you can view diversification on a specific day.

  • A Filter button to narrow what appears in the report.

  • A Group By menu to change how the report is categorised.

  • Graph type buttons so you can switch between bar and pie chart views.

  • Summary figures, including categories, largest allocation, top 3 concentration, and total value.

  • A table showing each category, weighting, and value.

  • An Export option to download the report as an Excel spreadsheet.

Open The Report

To open the Diversification report:

  1. Choose the portfolio you want to analyse from the portfolio selector.

  2. In the left-hand menu, select Performance.

  3. Select Diversification.

The report will load using the selected portfolio and current report settings.

Set The As At Date

Use the As At date picker to choose the date for the report.

You can:

  • Select today’s date to view your current diversification.

  • Select a past date to see how your portfolio was allocated on that day.

All market values and weightings in the report use the selected As At date.

Search And Filter Holdings

Use the search bar and Filter button to narrow what appears in the Diversification report.

You can use these controls to focus on specific parts of your portfolio, such as:

  • A holding or ticker.

  • A specific exchange.

  • A sector or industry.

  • A broker or source.

  • A currency.

  • A holding type.

  • By Group

Active filters only change what is shown in the report. They do not change your portfolio data, holdings, or transactions.

Group By Category

Use the Group By menu to change how the diversification graph and table are organised.

Depending on your account and data, you may be able to group by:

  • None

  • Holding

  • Exchange

  • Sector

  • Industry

  • Currency

  • Broker/Source

  • Holding Type

  • Portfolio

  • Custom Groups

Custom groups may also appear in this menu. For example, if you have a Core & Satellite custom group, you can group the report by that category.

Select a group option and Navexa will redraw the graph and table using that category.

Change Graph Type

Use the graph type buttons to change how the report is displayed.

You can view diversification as:

  • Bar Chart — useful for comparing allocations side by side.

  • Pie Chart — useful for seeing each category as a share of the total portfolio.

Hover over a bar or pie segment to view more detail, such as the category name and weighting.

Read The Summary Figures

The summary figures at the top of the report give you a quick view of portfolio concentration.

You may see:

  • Categories — the number of categories in the selected grouping.

  • Largest Allocation — the biggest individual allocation in the report.

  • Top 3 Concentration — the combined weighting of the three largest allocations.

  • Total Value — the total portfolio value included in the report.

These figures update when you change the date, filters, graph type, or Group By category.

Read The Table

The table below the graph shows the data behind the report.

For each row, you’ll typically see:

  • The category or holding name.

  • The weighting as a percentage of the portfolio.

  • The value in your portfolio currency.

Use the table to check exact values, compare your largest exposures, and confirm that holdings are grouped correctly.

If sector, industry, or custom group classifications don’t look right, update the classification on the relevant holding or custom group. The Diversification report will then reflect the updated classification.

Export To Excel

To export the report, select Export.

Navexa will download the report as an Excel spreadsheet. The export uses the report settings currently applied on screen, including the selected date, search, filters, graph type, and Group By category.

Common Questions

Why Can’t I See Some Holdings?

Some holdings may be hidden because of the report settings.

Check:

  • The selected portfolio.

  • The As At date.

  • The search bar.

  • Any active filters.

  • The selected Group By category.

For example, if the report is grouped by Sector, multiple holdings may be combined under the same sector instead of appearing separately.

What Does Ungrouped Mean?

Ungrouped means Navexa does not have a category assigned for that holding under the selected grouping.

This can happen if:

  • A holding has not been assigned to a custom group.

  • A sector or industry classification is missing.

  • The selected grouping does not apply to that holding.

Update the holding or custom group classification to place it into the correct category.

Can I Change Sector Or Industry?

Yes. You can update a holding’s classification from the holding settings.

After the classification is updated, the Diversification report will use the new sector or industry classification.
