Use the broker file upload tool to import your trade history from a broker CSV or Excel file, instead of entering trades one by one.
Steps To Upload A Broker File
Choose the portfolio you want to add holdings to.
From the left-hand side menu, click Portfolio.
Click the blue + Add Holdings button in the top-right corner.
Find your broker or exchange.
You can:
Search for your broker or exchange in the search bar.
Select one of the popular brokers shown on the page.
Click View All Brokers to see the full list.
Select your broker.
For example, select ANZ Share Investing if you want to upload an ANZ Share Investing file.
Choose CSV File Upload.
If CSV File Upload is not visible, CSV upload may not be supported for that broker.
Follow the on-screen instructions for your broker.
Each broker has its own export steps. For example, with ANZ Share Investing, Navexa will show you how to download the correct CSV file from your ANZ account.
Upload your file.
Drag your file into the upload box, or click Browse Files to select it from your computer. Then click Upload File.
The screen will show the import has started.
When the upload is complete, click Continue to Portfolio to see your updated holdings and performance.
Troubleshooting File Uploads
If your CSV file does not upload, check the following:
You selected the correct broker or exchange.
The file matches the format required by that broker.
The first row contains the correct column headers.
The file was downloaded directly from your broker, rather than edited manually.
The file is complete and not corrupted.
If the problem continues, download a fresh CSV or Excel file from your broker and upload it again.
Common Error Messages
Error Message | What It Means | How To Fix |
“File format not recognised” | The file is not in a supported CSV or Excel format. | Export the file again from your broker and try uploading it again. |
“Missing required header” | The column names do not match the broker file format Navexa expects. | Check the broker instructions and download a fresh file. |
“Invalid date format” | Dates are not in the expected format. | Open the file, check the date format, save it, and try uploading again. |
“Unknown trade type” | The trade type, such as Buy or Sell, is not recognised. | Check the trade type values in the file and update them if needed. |
“File does not contain trades” | The file is not a trade history file. It may be a broker support, reference, holdings, or integration file instead. | Upload the trade history export for the selected broker. The file needs trade data such as ticker, trade date, quantity, price, and buy or sell details. |
“Upload failed” | The file may be corrupted, incomplete, or not the correct broker export. | Download a fresh copy from your broker and upload it again. |
Tips Before Saving
Before saving your uploaded trades, double-check:
Trade dates
Trade types
Quantities
Prices
Brokerage or fees
Any rows flagged for review
This helps avoid incorrect holdings, duplicated trades, or performance differences after import.
