Use your Vanguard Personal Investor transaction history file to import historical buy and sell trades into Navexa.
Choose The Right Import Method
Vanguard Personal Investor Australia does not currently have a direct account connection to Navexa, and Vanguard does not provide emailed contract notes that can be forwarded to Navexa's Contract Note Importer.
Download your transaction history from Vanguard Online, then upload the original file through Navexa's Vanguard importer.
Download Your History
Download a Vanguard Personal Investor transaction history that covers the trades you want to add to Navexa.
Log in to your Vanguard Personal Investor account through Vanguard Online.
Select Transaction from the left-hand menu.
Select Investment transactions.
Set a date range that covers the transactions you want to import. For your first historical import, include all transactions since the account opened.
Select Download current view.
Select Spreadsheet, then save the downloaded file to your computer.
Important: Upload the original file downloaded from Vanguard. Do not remove columns, rename headings or manually reformat the spreadsheet before uploading it.
Upload The File
Upload the Vanguard file into the Navexa portfolio that should contain the Vanguard investments.
Open the portfolio you want to add the Vanguard investments to.
Select Portfolio from the left-hand menu.
Select + Add Holdings.
Search for and select Vanguard.
Choose CSV File Upload.
Drag the Vanguard spreadsheet into the upload area or select Browse Files.
Select Upload File.
Follow the on-screen prompts to review and complete the import.
Although this Navexa option is called CSV File Upload, the broker file uploader can process supported CSV and Excel spreadsheet formats. Upload the original Vanguard file instead of converting it yourself.
Using the Broker File Upload Tool explains the general broker-upload workflow and common file-upload checks.
Check The Import
After the import finishes, compare your Navexa portfolio with your Vanguard transaction history.
Confirm the expected Vanguard holdings appear.
Check buy and sell dates, quantities and prices against the Vanguard file.
Confirm brokerage or transaction costs have been recorded correctly.
Check that trades have not been duplicated by an earlier import.
If you imported part of your history previously, use a date range that covers only the missing period where possible.
Ongoing Transactions
Vanguard Personal Investor transactions do not currently sync automatically into Navexa.
To keep your portfolio up to date, periodically download newer Investment transactions from Vanguard Online and upload the file through Vanguard's CSV File Upload option. Start the date range after your last successful import to reduce unnecessary overlap.
Annual Tax Reports
The Vanguard trade-history file adds investment transactions to your Navexa portfolio. Your Vanguard Personal Investor Annual Tax Report is a separate document used for annual tax reporting.
Do not use the Annual Tax Report instead of the transaction-history spreadsheet. For annual tax-report guidance, see How to Enter a Vanguard Personal Investor Annual Tax Report in Navexa.
