Overview
CommSec and CommSec International are two separate trading platforms.
This article explains how to import your CommSec International trades into Navexa using the correct Activity CSV file, and how this differs from importing standard CommSec (domestic) trades.
If you are looking for domestic CommSec imports, see:
Those articles do not cover CommSec International.
CommSec vs CommSec International at a glance
CommSec (domestic)
Trades ASX-listed securities in AUD
CSV export comes from Portfolio → Accounts → Transactions
You can also use contract note email forwarding into Navexa
CommSec International
Trades international shares through a separate CommSec International login
CSV export comes from the Activity report under Performance & Reports → Statements
Files are generated per month, so you import one CSV per month you want to load
Because of this, CommSec International has its own broker import in Navexa.
Before you start
You will need:
Access to your CommSec International online account
A Navexa portfolio ready to receive the trades
A web browser and the ability to download and upload CSV files
This guide only covers CommSec International. For domestic CommSec, use the standard CommSec import guides.
Step 1: Select the CommSec International broker in Navexa
Log in to Navexa.
Open the portfolio where you want to import the trades.
Click Add holdings.
Choose Import from Broker/Account.
In the broker list, search for and select CommSec International.
You should now see the CommSec International import panel with an upload area for a CSV file.
Step 2: Export the Activity CSV from CommSec International
Log in to your CommSec International account.
In the top navigation, click Performance & Reports.
Click Statements.
Find the Activity report.
Choose the period you want to export (for example, a specific month).
Run the report.
Next to the CSV option, click Download to save the file to your computer.
Important notes
CommSec International generates one Activity CSV per month, not one file for the entire history.
To import a full history, you will need to repeat this process for each month you wish to bring into Navexa.
The domestic Portfolio → Accounts → Transactions → CSV export will not give you the correct file for CommSec International.
Step 3: Upload the Activity CSV into Navexa
Back in the CommSec International import panel in Navexa:
Make sure the correct portfolio is selected.
Click Upload file (or the equivalent button) in the CommSec International section.
Select the Activity CSV file you just downloaded from CommSec International.
Confirm the upload and start the import.
Navexa will read the file and create the matching international trades in your portfolio.
Once the import completes, you can:
Review your holdings under Portfolio → Holdings
Drill into a holding to see individual trades
Use performance and tax reports as usual
Common questions and issues
“I can see a CommSec CSV but not the international one”
If you see a CSV export under Portfolio → Accounts → Transactions in CommSec, you are probably looking at the domestic account.
For CommSec International, you must:
Log in to the CommSec International area
Go to Performance & Reports → Statements → Activity
Download the Activity CSV, not a domestic transactions CSV
“Do I need to import one file per month?”
Yes. The CommSec International Activity report is produced as monthly statements, so each CSV covers one month of trading. To bring in a full history, repeat the export and import steps for each month you want to include.
“Can I use email forwarding for CommSec International?”
Navexa’s email forwarding is documented for standard CommSec domestic accounts. CommSec International uses a different reporting setup. For consistent results, use the Activity CSV method described in this article for your international trades.
Summary
CommSec International is separate from standard CommSec and uses different statements.
In Navexa, always choose the CommSec International broker import for these trades.
In CommSec International, export the Activity CSV via Performance & Reports → Statements and import it into Navexa.
Repeat for each monthly Activity file you want to load.
