How to Enable or Disable Automatic Dividend Reinvestment (DRP) in Navexa

Enable or disable automatic Dividend Reinvestment Plan tracking for a holding and choose how Navexa calculates reinvested shares.

Use automatic Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) tracking when Navexa should calculate and record reinvestments across a holding.

Before You Enable DRP

Before enabling automatic DRP, review the existing dividends on the holding.

Enabling automatic DRP creates a Dividend Reinvestment trade for every unconfirmed dividend on that holding. Confirm any dividends you don’t want changed before enabling the setting.

This is important when:

  • You received some dividends as cash.

  • You only joined the DRP from a particular date.

  • You stopped participating in the DRP for a period.

  • Your historical DRP participation changed over time.

Use the individual dividend editor when only one payment was reinvested and you already know the final number of shares and reinvestment price.

Enable Automatic DRP

To enable automatic DRP for a holding:

  1. Select Portfolio from the left-hand menu.

  2. Open the relevant holding.

  3. Select the Settings tab.

  4. Set Auto Dividend Reinvestment to Yes.

  5. Select the appropriate DRP Setting.

  6. Select Save settings.

Navexa will calculate reinvestment trades for eligible unconfirmed dividends using the selected DRP method.

Choose a DRP Setting

The DRP Setting controls how Navexa calculates the number of shares received from each reinvested dividend.

Round Down

Round Down calculates the available shares and rounds the result down to the nearest whole share.

Any amount that is not enough to purchase another whole share is not carried forward by this Navexa setting.

Round Up

Round Up calculates the available shares and rounds the result up to the nearest whole share.

Use this setting only when it matches how your DRP allocation is shown on your registry statements.

Round to Nearest

Round to Nearest rounds the calculated allocation to the nearest whole share.

The result may round up or down depending on the calculated share quantity.

Balance Tracking

Round Down with Balance Tracking rounds the allocation down to the nearest whole share and carries the remaining balance into the next DRP calculation.

Use this option when your share registry carries unused dividend amounts forward between reinvestments.

Check the selected method against your broker or share registry statements. The correct method can vary between investments.

Review the Results

After enabling automatic DRP, review the generated entries against your statements.

To check the results:

  1. Open the holding’s Income tab and review the dividends.

  2. Open the Trades tab and find the generated Dividend Reinvestment trades.

  3. Compare the share quantities and reinvestment prices with your registry statements.

If one reinvestment differs, edit that specific dividend rather than changing the setting without first checking the other payments.

Disable Automatic DRP

To disable automatic DRP for a holding:

  1. Select Portfolio from the left-hand menu.

  2. Open the relevant holding.

  3. Select the Settings tab.

  4. Set Auto Dividend Reinvestment to No.

  5. Select Save settings.

Disabling automatic DRP stops Navexa from automatically applying DRP to eligible dividends under that holding setting.

Review any existing dividends and reinvestment trades separately if your historical records also need to change.

Changing DRP Participation

Your real DRP participation may have started or stopped partway through the holding’s history.

To keep the history accurate:

  • Confirm dividends that should remain unchanged.

  • Enable automatic DRP only after reviewing earlier payments.

  • Check generated reinvestment trades against registry statements.

  • Edit individual dividends where the actual outcome differs from the holding-level setting.

Avoid repeatedly switching automatic DRP on and off without reviewing the resulting trades. Changes to an earlier reinvestment can affect the number of shares held for later dividends.

Missing DRP Options

The automatic DRP setting may not appear when Navexa does not yet have the dividend and reinvestment information required for that holding.

This can occur with a new investment that has not yet announced or paid an eligible dividend.

You can still record a known reinvestment from the holding’s Income tab once you have the final details from your broker or registry.

Remember, this is general information, not personal financial advice.
