Use the individual dividend editor to record the actual outcome of a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) payment. You can record one or several reinvestments without enabling automatic DRP for the holding.
Have Your Reinvestment Statement Ready
Use your broker or share registry statement for the final number of shares or units, the reinvestment price and any balance brought forward or carried forward. If you are entering several historical allocations, work from oldest to newest.
The individual editor records an allocation. It does not offer the holding’s rounding-method selector. To have Navexa calculate allocations automatically, see How to Enable or Disable Automatic Dividend Reinvestment (DRP) in Navexa.
How to Record or Correct a Reinvestment
Record a reinvestment by editing the dividend or distribution that funded it.
Open Portfolio, select the holding and open Income.
Find the payment, select its three-dot menu (⋮), then select Edit.
Tick Dividend Reinvested, or leave it selected when correcting an existing reinvestment.
Enter or correct Number of Shares and Share Price using the final allocation on your statement. Check any displayed balance fields against the same statement.
Select Save Changes.
Review the payment in Income and its corresponding Dividend Reinvestment entry in Trades.
If the income payment itself is missing, use Add Dividend. Follow How to Add, Edit & Delete a Dividend (or Distribution) for the required payment details.
The example screen below shows where to enter the allocation and check the balance fields.
What Do the Balance Fields Mean?
Balance Brought Forward represents an unused amount carried into this reinvestment. Balance Carried Forward represents an amount left for a later reinvestment. Check the displayed figures against your registry statement.
These fields are not a rounding-method selector. Enter the actual allocation from your statement rather than estimating it from a displayed suggested DRP price. For automatic calculation methods, see Understanding DRP Rounding Methods.
How to Change a Reinvestment Back to Cash
Change an individual payment back to cash only when your statement shows it was not reinvested.
Open the payment’s ⋮ menu and select Edit.
Untick Dividend Reinvested, check the payment details and select Save Changes.
Review Income, Trades and the resulting holding quantity. Confirm the payment once its figures are correct.
If automatic DRP stays on, make sure the corrected cash payment is confirmed. Leaving it unconfirmed can allow automatic recalculation to treat it as reinvested again. Check for the green clipboard tick in Income; if it is not confirmed, select the payment and choose Confirm. Review the holding’s setting separately if your ongoing participation has changed.
Check Later Dividends After Historical Changes
Earlier reinvestments change the number of shares held for later dividends. Recheck subsequent income after adding, changing or removing an earlier allocation, including payments already confirmed.
Confirming preserves the current figures during normal automatic recalculation; it does not validate them. If later cash payments need recalculating, follow Manage Mixed Cash and Reinvested Dividends.
For Australian fund distributions, entering a final annual tax statement can still update confirmed records. See How to Confirm a Dividend or Distribution for this exception.
Use Edit to correct an allocation. Reset removes manual changes and can recalculate using the current trade history and automatic DRP setting. Do not delete a real dividend to change its reinvestment treatment.
