Automatic Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) tracking lets Navexa calculate reinvestments for eligible unconfirmed dividends and distributions on a holding. The setting can affect historical records as well as future payments.
Before You Change Automatic DRP
Check the holding’s Income records against your statements before changing automatic DRP. Confirm payments whose existing figures and cash or reinvestment treatment should remain unchanged.
Before enabling automatic DRP, also check Trades for Dividend Reinvestment entries already imported or entered manually. Match them to the payments in Income so you do not record the same allocation twice.
Confirm preserves the amount too. If you later add earlier reinvestments, a confirmed cash payment will not normally recalculate to include the extra shares. Recheck subsequent income after changing historical DRP.
For Australian fund distributions, entering a final annual tax statement can still update confirmed records. See How to Confirm a Dividend or Distribution for this exception.
If you stopped and restarted participation, follow Manage Mixed Cash and Reinvested Dividends. If you are unsure which approach to use, start with How to Set Up Dividend Reinvestment in Navexa.
How to Enable Automatic DRP
Enable automatic DRP from the holding’s settings after protecting the historical payments that should stay unchanged.
Open Portfolio and select the holding.
Select the holding’s Settings tab.
Set Auto Dividend Reinvestment to Yes.
Choose the DRP Setting that matches the allocation method on your registry or broker statements.
Select Save settings.
Navexa calculates reinvestments for eligible unconfirmed payments using that method. Confirmed payments remain preserved during normal automatic recalculation.
For the differences between Round Down, Round Up, Round to Nearest and Round Down with Balance Tracking, see Understanding DRP Rounding Methods.
Check the Calculated Reinvestments
Check the results against your statements before confirming the newly calculated reinvestments.
Open Income and review which payments are marked as reinvested.
Open Trades and check the generated Dividend Reinvestment quantities and prices.
Check the current holding quantity, any carried-forward balance and later cash dividends.
Work from oldest to newest. Correct and confirm one reinvestment at a time, then check the next payment after Navexa updates the holding.
To correct one allocation using the final figures on a statement, follow How to Enable or Edit DRP for a Specific Dividend in Navexa.
How to Disable Automatic DRP
Before disabling automatic DRP, check and confirm historical reinvestments you need to preserve. Unconfirmed records can change with the holding setting.
Open the holding’s Settings tab.
Set Auto Dividend Reinvestment to No.
Select Save settings.
Check Income and Trades to verify that the historical records match your statements.
Confirmed historical reinvestments remain recorded. Turning automatic DRP off does not cancel your participation with a broker or registry.
If Automatic DRP Is Unavailable
Automatic DRP requires the relevant reinvestment data for the holding. If the setting is unavailable, follow Why Is Automatic Dividend Reinvestment Unavailable in Navexa? to check the cause and record known allocations individually.
