About Benchmarks
A benchmark lets you see how your portfolio stacks up against a market index, a specific asset, or even another portfolio. You can add a benchmark on:
The Overview page
The Portfolio page
The Performance > Benchmark Analysis page
Each benchmark selection is independent — choosing one won’t update the others.
How to Add a Benchmark
Scroll to the bottom of any performance chart.
Click Edit Benchmark.
In the Edit Benchmark window, choose one of the following options:
Select a Common Benchmark
Pick from popular market indexes such as the ASX 200 or S&P 500.
Useful for seeing how your portfolio performs against a broad market.Search for a Stock, Crypto or ETF
Enter a code or company name (for example, CBA, AAPL or BTC).
Ideal if you want to measure against a specific investment.Use a Portfolio
Choose one of your own or a shared portfolio as the benchmark.
Perfect for comparing two portfolios side by side.
Click Update.
Your chosen benchmark will appear on the chart — for example, the SPDR 200 Fund in blue — and it will compare against the metric you’ve selected at the top of the chart (Portfolio Value, Capital Gain, etc.).
Navexa calculates benchmark performance using the same method as your portfolio (time-weighted returns including dividends). Because of this, you may notice slight differences between the benchmark’s result in Navexa and the chosen benchmark's published market return. That’s because fund managers often use different assumptions, such as not reinvesting dividends or using simple price-only calculations.
Removing a Benchmark
To remove a benchmark:
Click Edit Benchmark again.
Change the selection to None Selected, or clear the stock or fund code so the field is blank.
Click Update.
The chart will return to showing only your portfolio’s performance.
