Show a performance chart for a Custom Group (and fix a greyed-out “Apply filters”)

Filter your portfolio to a Custom Group so the top chart and tables show only that group. Includes fix for a greyed-out “Apply filters”.

What this does

You’ll filter your Portfolio so the main performance chart and holdings list reflect only the investments in a specific Custom Group (e.g., “Core” vs “Satellite”).

Before you start

  • Make sure you’ve created a Custom Group and at least one Category inside it (e.g., Group: “Strategy”, Categories: “Core”, “Satellite”).

  • Assign your holdings to those categories.

  • Save Changes

Step-by-step: Filter the Portfolio to your Custom Group

  1. Go to Portfolio.

  2. Click Filter (top of the page).

  3. In the dropdown, go to Custom groups, choose your Group.

  4. In the popup pick one or more Categories.

    • Tip: The dropdown might initially show “Select an exchange.” Once you’ve clicked Custom groups, that same dropdown becomes your Category selector.

  5. Click Apply filters.

  6. The page reloads. You’ll see filter “chips” at the top. The performance chart and tables now show only that Custom Group.

Troubleshooting

“Apply filters” is greyed out

  • Pick at least one Category in your selected Group.

  • If you haven’t added Categories yet, go to Settings → Custom holding groups, create them, Save, then come back and apply the filter.

  • Refresh the browser after creating or renaming a group/category.

I can’t find the Category dropdown

  • Ensure Custom groups is selected in the Filter panel (not Exchange).

  • The same input that says “Select an exchange” will change context to Category once Custom groups is selected.

  • If it doesn’t, refresh the page and reopen Filter.

The chart still shows my whole portfolio

  • Check the filter “chips” at the top—confirm your Custom Group chip is present.

  • Clear other filters (e.g., an Exchange or Account filter that widens the scope).

  • Confirm your chosen Category actually has holdings assigned.

  • Ensure your Date Range (top right) covers periods when those holdings existed (the chart follows the active Date Range).

I created a group but there’s nothing to select

  • Create at least one Category inside the group, and Save.

  • Assign holdings to that category.

  • Refresh, then apply the filter again.

Where else can I analyze a Custom Group?

  • Contributions Report: filter to a Custom Group to see cumulative and period contributions and return.

  • Benchmark Analysis: compare that group against a benchmark or another segment.

  • All Trades Performance: view trade-level outcomes scoped to your group.
