This article explains how to share a portfolio in Navexa, choose the right permission level, and manage or remove access later.
Share A Portfolio
You can share a portfolio from Manage Portfolios.
Open the portfolio selector at the top left.
Click Manage Portfolios.
Find the portfolio you want to share.
Click the three-dot menu beside that portfolio.
Click Share.
Choose Who To Share With
When the Share Portfolio window opens, select the portfolio you want to share.
Then choose who you are sharing it with:
Accountant
Financial Advisor
Individual
After that, enter their:
First name
Last name
Email address
Choose The Permission Level
When you share a portfolio, you can choose one of two permission levels.
Read Only
Read only access lets the person view the portfolio data, but they cannot add, edit, or delete anything.
This is the best option when someone only needs visibility, such as an accountant, partner, or adviser reviewing the portfolio.
Read & Write
Read & Write access lets the person make changes to the portfolio data.
That includes actions such as adding trades, editing transactions, and updating investment data.
Only give Read & Write access when you want that person to actively help manage the portfolio.
Send The Invite
Once you click Share Portfolio, Navexa sends an email invitation to the person you entered.
That email asks them to register through the invitation link.
Once they create their free Navexa account and sign in, they will be able to access the shared portfolio with the permission level you selected.
Check Shared Access
You can review sharing access from the same portfolio area.
Open Manage Portfolios.
Click the three-dot menu beside the portfolio, click Settings.
Click the Sharing Settings tab.
In Sharing Settings, you’ll be able to see:
The person’s name
Their access level
The date the portfolio was shared
Whether they have accepted the invitation
Remove Access
You can remove someone’s access at any time from Sharing Settings.
To remove access:
Open Manage Portfolios.
Open the portfolio’s Sharing Settings screen.
Find the person in the sharing list.
Click Unshare.
Once you unshare the portfolio, that person will no longer be able to access it.
Common Issues
They cannot edit the portfolio
If the person can open the portfolio but cannot make changes, they likely have Read only access.
Update their permission to Read & Write in Sharing Settings.
They have not received the invite
If the invite has not been accepted, check that you entered the correct email address and ask them to look for the invitation email.
They need to register through that email link before the shared portfolio will appear in their account.
