This helps you track Australian managed funds in Navexa using the correct code and setup, so your holdings are easier to add and maintain.

Yes, Australian managed funds can usually be tracked by APIR

Navexa can track Australian managed funds where they are supported by our data provider.

For these funds, the key code to use is the fund’s APIR code. In practice, the APIR works as the fund’s identifier when you search for or import the holding.

If the fund is supported, Navexa can pull pricing automatically. If it is not supported, you can still track it manually as a Custom Investment instead. (see What can I track with Navexa? (Supported assets, markets & exchanges))

What is an APIR code?

An APIR code is the unique identifier used for many Australian managed funds.

Think of it like the fund’s code or ticker. It helps platforms like Navexa identify the correct fund when you search for it or import it.

Where can I find the APIR code?

You can usually find the APIR code on the fund documents provided by the investment provider.

Common places to check are:

  • Your investment confirmation or application documents

  • Fund statements

  • Distribution statements

  • The fund’s product page or PDS

You can also search for the fund on APIR here: https://www.apir.com.au/

How to add an Australian managed fund

Add it manually

If you are adding one holding at a time:

  • Open your portfolio

  • Click Add Holdings

  • Select Add Trade Data Manually

  • Choose Stock/Security

  • Enter the fund’s APIR code in the search field

  • Select the matching fund and enter your trade details

  • Save the holding

This is the quickest option if you only have one or a small number of managed funds to add. (see Add a Holding Manually) (see Adding Your First Investments)

Import it from a spreadsheet

If you are importing many transactions, you can use Import From Spreadsheet.

When importing a supported Australian managed fund:

  • Use the fund’s APIR code in the ticker or code field

  • Use the FND (not ASX) as the market code for Australian managed funds.

  • Review the preview carefully before confirming the import

This is usually the fastest method for bulk-loading older managed fund transactions.

What if the fund does not appear?

If your fund does not appear when you search by APIR, it usually means the fund is not currently available through Navexa’s data provider.

You can still track it by adding it as a Custom Investment instead.

A Custom Investment lets you:

  • Record your buy and sell activity

  • Add income entries such as distributions

  • Update the value manually over time

This is the best fallback when a managed fund is not supported in the live feed. (see Add a Custom Investment)

What code should I use for an Australian managed fund?

Use the fund’s APIR code.

The APIR is the main identifier for most Australian managed funds in Navexa. If you are unsure whether a fund is supported, try searching for the APIR when adding the holding manually. If Navexa finds a match, you can add it as a supported holding.

FAQ

Will Navexa track prices automatically?

If the managed fund is supported by Navexa’s data provider, Navexa will pull pricing automatically.

If it is not supported, you will need to update the price manually using a Custom Investment.

Can I track distributions too?

Yes, if the fund is supported through Navexa’s data feed, distributions can be tracked within the platform.

If you are using a Custom Investment, you can still record distributions manually as income entries.

What if I only have statements and no supported APIR match?

Use Custom Investment.

That gives you a way to keep the managed fund in your portfolio even when Navexa cannot match it as a supported holding. You can then add trades, income and manual price updates as needed.
