Connect Sharesight to Navexa to import your portfolio history, or import an All Trades Report spreadsheet when the direct connection is unavailable or incomplete.
Before You Start
The Sharesight direct connection is currently in beta. You need a Sharesight API account and OAuth 2.0 credentials before you can create the link.
Keep your Client Secret private. Paste it only into the Sharesight connection form inside Navexa. Do not send it through chat or email.
Connect Sharesight
Follow Sharesight’s User API – Configuring OAuth guide, then contact Sharesight support and ask them to enable an API account for your Sharesight account.
After Sharesight enables access, open Account → Sharesight API.
Copy your Client ID and Client Secret.
In Navexa, open Portfolio and select + Add Holdings.
Select Sharesight, then choose the direct account-link option.
Paste your Client ID and Client Secret, then select Link Account.
Match each Sharesight portfolio to the correct Navexa portfolio.
Complete the import, then review the resulting holdings and transactions in Navexa.
The direct connection is designed to import trades, dividends and Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) settings from Sharesight.
Check Imported Data
Review the imported records before relying on performance or tax reports.
Confirm each Sharesight portfolio was mapped to the intended Navexa portfolio.
Compare buy and sell dates, quantities, prices, brokerage and currencies with your original records.
Check dividends, distributions and DRP settings against the amounts and units you actually received.
Review corporate actions, cash transactions, notes and attachments separately because they may not transfer through the connection.
Annual AMIT or AMMA tax-statement components require a separate review. See How to Enter or Import an AMIT/AMMA Statement in Navexa.
Keep Navexa Updated
After you verify the Sharesight migration, connect each broker or exchange directly to Navexa using the method supported for that provider.
Depending on the provider, ongoing activity may come through a direct account connection, an API key, contract-note email forwarding or a provider-specific file import. See Adding Your First Investments to choose the appropriate method.
Use one ongoing import method for each investment account. Do not keep importing the same activity through both Sharesight and the original broker or exchange, because differences between the two sources can create duplicate transactions.
When changing methods, note your cutover date and check that the first broker or exchange import does not overlap with history already migrated from Sharesight.
Import A Sharesight Spreadsheet
If you cannot use the direct connection, you can import the historical trades from each Sharesight portfolio using its All Trades Report spreadsheet.
This is a one-off import and does not keep Navexa synchronised with Sharesight. The spreadsheet is designed to transfer trade history; it does not replace the direct connection’s ability to transfer dividends and Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) settings.
Use the direct connection or the spreadsheet as your initial migration method. If you use a spreadsheet to fill a verified gap after a direct import, limit it to the missing history and review the resulting transactions for duplicates.
Open Sharesight and select the portfolio you want to export.
Select Tax, then open the All Trades Report.
Set the report date range to Since Inception.
Select Export in the top-right corner, then choose Spreadsheet.
In Navexa, open the matching destination portfolio.
Select Portfolio → + Add Holdings → Sharesight, then choose the file-upload option.
Upload the downloaded Sharesight spreadsheet and review the extracted transactions before completing the import.
Repeat these steps separately for every Sharesight portfolio you want to move.
The spreadsheet route is best suited to historical buy and sell trades. It may not preserve Sharesight income confirmations, DRP settings, comments, notes or attachments. For the full upload workflow, see Import Holdings From a Spreadsheet.
Avoid Duplicate Trades
Navexa checks incoming trades against records already saved in the destination portfolio and skips trades it recognises as duplicates.
Duplicates can still appear when Sharesight and Navexa represent the same trade differently, such as different fees, dates, price precision, currencies or ticker formats. If your Navexa portfolio already contains substantial history, test the migration in a separate portfolio before merging methods.
For details, see How Navexa prevents duplicate trades during imports.
Fix Connection Issues
Use these checks when the Sharesight connection fails or the imported history is incomplete.
Why Did The Connection Fail?
Confirm that Sharesight has enabled your API account and that you copied the current Client ID and Client Secret without extra spaces. If the link previously worked, it may need to be reconnected.
Open Settings → Connected Accounts to check the Sharesight connection, last sync and sync history. See Managing Connected Accounts.
Why Are Trades Missing?
Check that each Sharesight portfolio is linked to the correct Navexa portfolio, then trigger another sync from Connected Accounts. If older trades remain missing, import the missing history with the All Trades Report spreadsheet and check for duplicates afterwards.
Should I Delete My Existing Portfolio?
You do not normally need to delete an existing Navexa portfolio. Keep existing tax records intact and use a separate test portfolio when you want to verify a large migration before relying on it.
