Overview
You can upload a spreadsheet straight into Navexa using Import From Spreadsheet. Choose your investment type, map your file’s columns, and review before saving.

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Start the Import
2. Choose Your Investment Type
Pick the type of holdings your spreadsheet contains:
Stocks
Cryptocurrencies
Custom Investments
Each option has its own required fields — see below.
3. Prepare Your File
Prepare your file as a CSV or XLSX with the required fields for your investment type.

Share Price
Quantity
Brokerage Cost
Exchange Rate (if applicable)
Brokerage Currency Code (if applicable)
Notes/Description (optional)
Cryptocurrencies

Market Pair (e.g. BTC/AUD)

Trade Type (Buy/Sell)
Amount Received
Amount Traded
Fee
Fee Currency Code (fiat or crypto)
Notes/Description (optional)
Custom Investments
Custom Investments let you track assets that Navexa does not currently support with a live market feed. They use the same field format as stocks, but all data must be entered manually.
This option serves as a catch-all for investments outside our supported markets and assets, including property, bonds, collectibles, private companies, unlisted shares, and unlisted crypto not yet on our feeds.
⚠️ Important: The importer cannot transform or interpret your data. You must format your spreadsheet to match the required fields exactly. If you do not, the upload will fail. For one-off assets, consider adding them manually instead of using the spreadsheet import.
Required fields:
Symbol – Asset name (e.g. property address)
Exchange – Leave blank if not applicable
Trade Date – Date acquired
Trade Type – Buy/Sell
Share Price – Purchase price or valuation
Quantity – Units owned (often 1 for property)
Brokerage Cost – Transaction costs or fees
Exchange Rate (if applicable)
Brokerage Currency Code (if applicable)
Notes/Description (optional)
💡 Tip: Treat "shares" as "units" — e.g. 1 unit of a property worth $600,000.
4. Upload Your File
Drag your file into the upload box or click Browse Files.
Click Next.
5. Select or Confirm the Header Row
Yes is selected by default for the first row, but you must click it to proceed.
Use Choose another row if the headers are further down in your file.
Click No header row if your file has none; this moves you to the next screen.
⚠️ If your column headers are located elsewhere or if the spreadsheet lacks headers, it's crucial to ensure the correct option is chosen to avoid data mismatches during the import process. Misaligned headers can disrupt the import entirely.
6. Map Your Columns
Navexa will try to automatically match your spreadsheet columns to the required fields.
If a match is found, you’ll see a green Confirm mapping button.
Clicking Confirm mapping locks the field in place and prevents it from being mapped twice.
You can click Edit at any time to change your selection.
If no match is found, choose the correct field from the dropdown (e.g. "Share Price" should be matched to "Price")
If you don’t want to import a column, click Ignore this column.
You can also proceed without confirming — unconfirmed matches will still be used.
Once all columns are mapped or ignored, click Next.
7. Review Your Data
This is the final step before saving.
Check that all trades and values are correct.
Use the toggle to Only show rows with errors to quickly find issues (1).
Delete individual rows or select multiple to remove them before saving (2).
Click Save to lock everything in and add it to your portfolio (3).
8. Check Your Portfolio
Your trades are now added. Go to the Overview page to confirm.
For additional reference, consult troubleshooting tips if errors persist. Verify that all the trades appear correctly and that key data, such as dates and quantities, matches your records. If there are discrepancies, use the app's error toggles or filters to correct them before proceeding further.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, such as getting stuck in a loop:
Recheck the selected header row to ensure it’s correct.
Confirm that all essential columns are correctly mapped before proceeding.
Resolve any misaligned fields to avoid import complications.
As an alternative, you may manually add trades if the import process cannot resolve the issue.
