What Is Portfolio X-Ray?

Understand how Portfolio X-Ray reveals the investments within your ETFs and funds and combines them with your direct holdings.

Portfolio X-Ray shows what you hold directly and through supported exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and funds. It brings matching exposures together so you can see how several investments contribute to your exposure to the same company.

Portfolio X-Ray is available on Standard plans and above.

Look Inside Your ETFs and Funds

An ETF or fund appears as one holding in your portfolio, but it can contain many underlying investments.

You might own shares in a company directly and also have exposure to that company through several funds. Portfolio X-Ray looks within supported funds to reveal those underlying positions, where holdings information is available.

Understand Your Combined Exposure

Exposure describes the value attributed to an investment held directly or through funds.

For example, a portfolio might contain:

  • AUD $1,000 of a company’s shares held directly.

  • An estimated AUD $500 of exposure to the same company through an ETF.

  • An estimated AUD $200 through another fund.

Portfolio X-Ray brings these amounts together to show approximately AUD $1,700 of combined exposure. You can open the breakdown to see how each investment contributes.

This helps explain why separate portfolio holdings can contain some of the same underlying investments.

Explore the Underlying Investments

Portfolio X-Ray lets you:

  • View your largest company exposures.

  • Find positions held through multiple investments.

  • Explore companies shared between funds.

  • Group exposures by categories such as country, sector, industry or currency.

  • Trace an exposure back to your direct holdings and contributing funds.

Fund exposures are estimates.

Which Funds Does Portfolio X-Ray Cover?

How Is X-Ray Different From Diversification?

The Portfolio Diversification Report groups the holdings recorded in your portfolio.

Portfolio X-Ray adds another layer by looking within supported funds. It helps you understand the underlying investments behind those holdings.

To open the feature and read the report, see Getting Started With Portfolio X-Ray.
