Understand Your Scenario Results

Understand a scenario's net cash impact, capital gains, assessable gain, matched parcels, allocation shift and calculation date.

After you add hypothetical trades, Navexa calculates their combined estimated effect. Use the summary, trade table and calculation sections together rather than relying on one figure alone.

Summary figures

  • Net Cash Impact estimates the cash raised or required by all hypothetical trades after brokerage. A positive figure means the scenario raises cash; a negative figure means it requires cash.

  • Assessable Gain shows the estimated financial-year total before and after the scenario. It is not an estimate of the tax you will personally pay.

The trades table

Each row shows the hypothetical trade, trade value, brokerage, net cash and realised gain or loss. A buy does not realise a capital gain or loss, so that field is shown as not applicable.

Expand a sell to view the purchase parcels matched to it. For each parcel, Navexa can show the units, purchase date, whether it has been held for at least 12 months, cost base, estimated net cash and gain or loss.

How the assessable gain is calculated

Expand How the assessable gain from these trades was calculated to see the calculation steps. Depending on your portfolio data and the scenario, these can include:

  • the gain or loss realised by the hypothetical trades;

  • capital losses carried forward from earlier years;

  • the assessable gain from the hypothetical trades;

  • the assessable gain already recorded for the financial year; and

  • the estimated assessable gain for the financial year after the scenario.

The CGT method shown above the trade table tells you how Navexa matched parcels that were not manually selected.

Portfolio allocation shift

Expand Portfolio allocation shift to review how the hypothetical trades could change the relative weight of your remaining investments. Cash raised by a hypothetical sale is not modelled as a portfolio asset, so a sell changes the shares of what remains rather than adding a cash allocation.

Proceeds and costs

Expand Proceeds and costs for more detail about the values included in the calculation, including brokerage and any applicable currency conversion.

As of and Calculated

The As of date identifies the portfolio position used for the scenario. Calculated or Last calculated tells you when Navexa last generated the estimates.

Select Refresh after changing the As of date or when the underlying portfolio data or prices have changed. Review the refreshed results before comparing or relying on the scenario.

Check the result

Scenario figures depend on the data recorded in Navexa and the assumptions you entered. Independently verify the outcome, particularly when transactions, exchange rates, carried-forward losses or CGT settings may be incomplete.

Remember, this is general information, not personal financial advice.
