Before you troubleshoot (fast Stock Genius checks)
These quick checks fix most Stock Genius issues:
Refresh the page (or do a hard refresh), then try again.
Do not leave the “Add Stock to Game Portfolio” screen open for a long time. In Stock Genius, the displayed price can become stale.
Confirm the stock is actually trading (not halted or suspended). If unsure, quickly check the ticker on a public market site.
If the issue persists, log out and back in, then retry in a new tab.
Stock Genius error: “Price must match current market price”
What it means
In Stock Genius, your trade must be placed using the live price the game is using. If the Stock Genius price on your screen is stale (or the market price moved), you can get a price mismatch error.
How to fix it
Close the Stock Genius “Add Stock” screen.
Refresh the page.
Open +Add Trade again and re-search the ticker.
Re-enter the quantity and submit immediately.
Common causes
You left the Stock Genius add screen open and the price updated in the background.
The market was closed and then opened (prices can update quickly right after open).
The stock is halted/suspended or not actively trading.
Stock Genius error: “Trade date must be today for game portfolios”
What it means
Stock Genius game portfolios only allow trades dated “today”. If your device/browser date is out of sync, or you’re in a timezone where your “today” has already rolled over, Stock Genius can block the trade.
How to fix it
Some users have temporarily set their computer or system to AEDT (Sydney/Melbourne time).
Make sure your device is using automatic date and time (and automatic timezone).
Refresh the Stock Genius page and try the trade again.
If you are near midnight in your timezone, wait until your date matches the game’s current date, then retry.
Common causes
Your computer/phone clock is incorrect.
You’re in a different timezone and your local date has changed, but the Stock Genius game day has not.
