Add a delisted stock to Navexa, preserve its original trade history and record any later corporate action when it is confirmed.
What Delisting Means
When a stock is delisted, it stops trading on its exchange.
You may still own the shares after delisting. The company may continue operating privately, be involved in a takeover or restructure, or be going through liquidation.
Do not automatically close a holding or enter a $0 transaction solely because the stock has been delisted.
Add A Delisted Stock
Add a delisted stock that is available in Navexa's security database through the normal manual holding process.
Select Portfolio.
Select + Add Holdings.
Select Add a Trade Manually.
Choose Stock/Security.
Search for the company name or ticker.
Select the correct security and exchange.
Enter the original trade details.
Select Save.
If you purchased the investment before it was delisted, use the actual historical trade date, quantity, price and brokerage. Do not use today's date solely because you are adding the holding today.
For a broader guide to manual holdings, see Add a Holding Manually.
Add The Original Trade History
Accurate historical trades give Navexa the information it needs to calculate your holding's cost base, performance and tax reports.
If you acquired the shares through multiple purchases, add each historical Buy separately when that transaction history is important.
Record the original acquisition date, quantity, price and brokerage for each purchase.
Avoid replacing multiple historical purchases with one current-dated transaction, as it does not reflect the original investment history.
Already Tracking The Stock?
If the stock was already in your Navexa portfolio before it delisted, you generally do not need to create another holding.
Keep the existing holding and its transaction history in place. Delisting itself does not dispose of your shares or reduce the number of units you own.
Add any later transactions or corporate actions to the same holding when they occur.
Pricing After Delisting
Current market pricing may no longer be available after a stock stops trading.
The holding may remain at an older price or show no current market value. A missing or $0 market price in Navexa does not necessarily mean the investment is worthless. It may simply mean there is no longer an active market price for the security.
Navexa does not currently allow you to manually override the market price of an existing Stock/Security holding.
Should I Use A Custom Investment?
Do not recreate a delisted stock as a Custom Investment solely to enter your own valuation.
A Custom Investment is a separate holding. Moving your tracking this way requires you to recreate the relevant historical transactions to retain the original acquisition dates and cost information.
When the delisted stock already exists in Navexa, keep the original holding to preserve its history.
Record What Happens Next
After delisting, record the transaction that actually happens to the investment rather than recording the delisting itself.
Return Of Capital: Use this when the company officially returns capital to shareholders without cancelling the shares.
Sell: Use this when you dispose of shares for sale proceeds.
Cancellation: Use this when shares or units are officially cancelled as part of a corporate action.
The correct transaction depends on the company announcement, broker notice or other documentation for the event. For a full explanation of these choices, see Trade Types in Navexa: What They Mean & When to Use Them.
If a company is being liquidated but the shares have not been cancelled, keep the holding open until the final outcome is known.
Do Not Cancel At $0 Automatically
A delisting alone is not a reason to add a Cancellation at $0.
Only record a $0 cancellation when the shares have been cancelled or have become worthless and no consideration was received. If further proceeds, capital returns or other payments are still possible, wait until the relevant event is confirmed before recording the final transaction.
Remember, this is general information, not personal financial advice.
